They Will Never Understand
What makes you unique? Can you do things that makes others give you weird looks or vibes? When it comes to people especially in certain industries, they fear what they don't know or understand. Its human nature to feel that when you see someone do something extraordinary or even superhuman. I've gotten this many times even by my own blood and hear things like "don't hurt yourself", "Can you do that in the other room", "It's a shame nobody pays you for that" and a favorite "Don't do that in the middle of the floor when there's people around" (I was bridging and there were 3 people in the room and weren't doing anything). I like to feel I'm unique in my own way and can do things most people my age and size can't do especially in this era. Why don't I fear the things I do? Because I not only love it I challenge the norm and see what else I'm capable of and going that extra mile.
Do you get put down for what you love? How can anyone with a brain even remotely tell you, you should do something else because they can't understand? It's messed up. You're not hurting anybody and what do they really fear it's certainly not you it's them and they hate what you're capable of. When you get to pull off something that not only makes you feel incredible in a positive and productive way and you get joy out of it, people want to try to take that away from you because they're not happy with themselves and they're too damn scared to do something that could give something to smile about and be grateful to do things others can't fathom. Not everyone is like this because on the other side of the coin, there are people who want to encourage you and help you succeed. The type of people that have similar interests and share a common goal of making themselves great by helping one another and cheer you on as you cheer for them. When people put you down for what you love it's not because they don't care it's because they can't do it and they don't want you to succeed and that helps them feel better (even though it really doesn't).
For those that can't fathom what you're capable of or what you're willing to strive for, it is almost hurtful to be looked at as if you're some kind of freak of nature and you're too different for them. That's the beauty of being unique, you get to be different and lead your own path to what makes you happy and give you a reason to show your talent in ways the average person just doesn't have a clue. They don't have what you have and they're jealous as hell even though they won't show it or admit it, it is there. I love being able to fall back into a bridge and kick over when I'm able to, it's a beautiful feeling. Can't say the same for some people I know because they look at me and think "he's going to break his neck and he's too big for that." You know what that tells me, it says yeah say what you want and be a negative Nancy but I'm going to do what makes me happy and if you can't take than walk away from me. I'm tired of hiding of what I'm good at and you should never hide who you are.
The people that don't see the positive things that you're good at will not support you (trust me, It's been said to me in my face) but yet you can find those that will and will push you to challenge your passion because they not only see the awesome things you're capable of but want you to share them with the world and can even make a living out of it. It doesn't matter if you're a writer, a hand balancer, a manager of a small store or even one of the world's strongest men; if you love what you do and you're great at it than keep doing it and never let go of that fire that burns within you. I believe in you and if you use what you can do in a positive and awesome way than by all means keep at it and don't think you're not strong enough to be better. Coming from a guy that was told that loved basketball at one time in his life that I would never be in the NBA no matter how hard I tried it hurts to listen to that shit. You are the most awesome person you can be and your limits are your own and if you want to reach for the stars than dammit do it. Make yourself stand out and have fun with it, if you love it and you learn to be the best at it that you are capable of making it than don't let anyone stop you. Keep at it and don't let assholes take you down when you can rise above them.
It's Tuesday so make it a great one and be awesome everyone. Be sure to check out my Special Offer at the top of the site. It'll only hold until Oct. 1st. Jump on it now and find out how to get a coaching session with me on Skype.

Listen To Your Instincts
For the most part in the fitness world, nobody really
listens to their instincts because they buy into the latest fad or fitness
gimmick on putting on 10 pounds of muscle in less than 10 days or going to an
aerobics class and thinking it’s the Mecca
of fitness. To really understand fitness and strength training is to learn how
to trust yourself not just in the gym but be able to figure out how to do a
workout anytime and anywhere. Learn to listen to that little voice.
I have learned
from a great deal of many people and have been to the gym, trained at home, at
parks, oceans, lakes, even the grocery store but I never once felt like doing
every single thing they teach. To trust your instincts is to listen to what
matters. You can buy all the crap you want and get in awesome workouts but it
all boils down to you and what works best for you. Learning from other people
is great and that’s the way it should be but also it’s important to find what
works best for you and it’s different for everyone.
While I was
cooped up on a hospital bed for nearly three months, I did do a little therapy but
it became boring to me and not because I wanted to move along faster but my
instincts were telling me that there are better ways to do this. After my third
surgery and was cleared to do rehab, I shook off therapists, doctors and even
my own family and friends that told me to work on rehabbing. I just had the
desire to do it on my own and it took me a while but before I knew it, my legs
were getting stronger, my body was shaping up and I got far better at my
recovery than if I had listened to some quack with a piece of paper attached to
his name. Did I get crap for it, of course I did but that didn’t matter to me
and I learned to trust myself.
Nobody has
power over you but if you allow them that power, you’ll never find what works
best for you and learning to find that desire to what gives you strength,
health and power over everyone else. You have the power to create your own
style, your own version of training and it doesn’t matter if you go to a gym or
not. Learn from other people but find your own way, trust in yourself.

Follow Your Fitness Destiny
I believe that no matter who you are, you aught to follow
your own destiny. It’s important to learn who your true self is and that nobody
aught to tell you who you should be and that you need to live by a higher
standard according to society’s standards. Fitness is really the same thing.
The truth is, if you are passionate about something and it helps you in your
life than that’s where you aught to go. There are many methods you can learn
and my hope for you is take bits of pieces of what you learned and apply them
to what makes you happy. For real fitness and getting real results find and use
what brings you those results.
In almost
20 years in fitness and health, I’ve learned a great deal of things, some work,
some don’t. In that time I’ve also seen a great many people who tarnish certain
things because it doesn’t suit their standards, they want to drive you away
from your destiny and teach you only their methods and if you’re not on par
than you’re going to fitness hell. Open your mind to different things,
challenge your body and brain to what yields them a great learning experience. I
have fallen to the “one true method” mindset and it nearly killed my expansion
to be able to understand different ideals. Some people do only one method and
for them it’s the end all be all and that’s fine but last time I checked there
are 7 billion people in the world, not all of them are going to follow you.
I want you
to find what you love to do. If you don’t like something and it doesn’t help
you much, that’s a clear sign that you aught to look into something else. I’ve
seen countless people bicker at each other what they don’t like and tell people
that because they don’t like it, it’s not going to work others as well,
bullshit. If you’re a fan of kettlebells and they do well for you, then you go
get whatever kettlebell course is out there and you bust your ass on them
because it’s what you love, if you don’t like kettlebells, don’t buy them and
don’t give others crap about it because it’s not for you.
There are a
lot of things I love in fitness like cables, hammers, bodyweight, ropes,
isometrics and other things so I take bits and pieces of these things and mold
them in my own unique way. That’s the true beauty of fitness is the ability to
be unique and creating the best way for you to get what you want for your body
and mind. Don’t let assholes who tell you that because of what you do, you’ll
get injured, you’re depriving to train like a man or better yet because of what
you preach and love, they’ll come up with any lame way of what is terrible
about it.
I’m not an
angry guy, as a matter of fact I’m very happy about what I do and I get to
learn from very amazing people; however I do get a bit irritated when I find
out about people who over criticize about another person’s methods and tell
them their an idiot or that you’re not an animal you’re a man, train like it;
just makes me want to slap those people. Be unique, if you like doing just one
method that’s great for you but I believe in learning multiple methods and
taking different parts that you find suitable to your needs and goals.
Build your
own destiny, find your calling and passion and run with it. It doesn’t matter
if you’re a woman or a man, we all have something unique about ourselves and
it’s important to find what our true self is and grasp it by grabbing it by the
horns and create something out of it in an awesome, positive and beautiful way.
Help others find their creative side and give them the power to fulfill their
own destiny, you don’t have to like what they do but if they’re important to
you make them feel important and guide them.
Take care and have an awesome day wherever you are.

Training Comes With A Price
What you believe in is your choice. Some people prefer
weights over bodyweight, some loath weights and find them useless for any given
strength; the truth of the matter is to find what’s suited to you and really
only you. When you become comfortable in the way you train, take it a step
further and challenge it a little, mix things up, make the exercises harder,
experiment with different tempos, speeds and play.
Not
everyone will agree with what you do and that’s ok. You are unique and your
body responds differently, so train according to how your body responds to the
training you create and experiment with. Me personally, I like different styles
that I mold into my own. I do a little gymnastics, a little weights, animal movements, natural movements, bending steel and whatever I can come up with. If
you’re into one particular style and that’s it more power to you. I'm a big man
and I've been told I shouldn't be able to do the things I do but you know what,
I love it and that’s what is important.
Be open and
share who you are but also use it as a positive influence. There are great
trainers and fitness guys out there who are awesome at what they do but their
attitude needs a little shaping. I’m not asking you to change who you are, you're
awesome in your own right but a positive attitude is a key to success. I
believe in helping others and giving them tools with a smile and bringing love
and care to help them be successful but there are some out there who are bitter
and treat certain people calling them whiners and whatnot, this isn't the
military, these are human beings trying to find what can work for them.
Have a kick
ass attitude, sometimes a little tough love to help reach their potential but
to a degree. If you're overweight and want to drop a few pounds, I'm not going
to tell you upfront you're fat or put you down like some people I know but I
will tell you this; the battle is on you and how you win it is up to you, if
you want to lose weight, take it one step at a time, I’m not going to hold you
your hand but to be motivated is to believe even for a fraction that you can
make something happen. If you're rail thin and need to put on some muscle, same
principle applies, believe even if it’s down to the smallest fraction that it
could be possible, it’s a start and progress upward one fraction at a time.
I know what
it’s like to not be motivated, to give up, being depressed because of my weight
or because I'm not as strong or fit as the guy next to me in the gym, I've been
there and I've had a wake up call that is a little extreme than most people.
You are a very strong person even if you don’t know it yet, the power is there
and it’s edging to come out. You're not a loser and you don't need to listen to
some bullshit people who drag you down, you are mighty and you are powerful, it
takes practice but you can bring it out. That to me is the price of training,
to find your true self and how you apply it to everything else in your life.

You Are Awesome
We all have dealt with many things in our lives. Some have
gone through far worse than any of us, some haven’t experienced certain
emotional pain yet and with heart I hope no one does cause it sucks. However,
the shit you have dealt with in your life can become your greatest blessing
because it teaches you how to overcome and become a much stronger individual.
Now a
common question that comes up in a person’s life is What Makes You Unique?
Every answer varies. Some people have great gifts and great skills, some are
even blessed with certain abilities and either choose to use them productively
or rarely use them at all. Being unique truly is a gift in itself because
although you stand out from others, you’re the one who gets to decide how much
of your uniqueness you want to use. You can even be an outlaw in some cases
because you choose to not follow others rules and find your own creativity
while giving your ability to become a great person work for you.
The one
thing I always want to emphasize is that no matter how old you are,
black/white/brown/yellow/Asian, African, American, French whatever; embrace who you are as an individual because no matter who you are, there will always be a
group of others who will tell you to be something else or better yet someone
else, people who will tell you that you can’t express yourself and show who you
are as the genuine article. It’s extremely difficult, pointless and really
idiotic to try to be like someone else. That person is already taken, create
who you want to be and never stop believing you’ll be able to achieve it.
Influence others who want to be different, show them it’s ok to find your own
secrets to becoming a great and unique human being.
What really
makes you awesome? It’s not always how strong you are physically, how
manly/womanly you are, how you use your mental and spiritual abilities and even
not always how shy you are in the beginning; it’s how you embrace yourself and
represent who you truly are and the power you can have to make others notice,
it’s that law of attraction that uses guidance. You are one kick ass person and
don’t let anyone tell you different, make yourself fun to be around, be good to
people, help them out every now and then. Be the genuine article and you’ll
find what great things can happen in your life.

Combo Workouts To Make Things Interesting
Its fun when you combine things together and make them
unique but not many people think they’re that creative and just follow others’
movements and just don’t learn how to use their brain. Not saying training isn't
a bad thing, whatever works is cool but when you bring certain things together
because it’s what you’d want to do, it’s a whole different ball game.
When you
create certain workouts, sometimes you need a place to do them. A park with
benches, swings, bars and walkways make up for a very unique training
experience. Another example would be your backyard or garage if you have room,
building and setting up your own style of training. Say you want Kettlebells in
one corner, Maces/Clubs in another area & a pull-up bar or rack in the back
and you've got it made, maybe you’d like to have some Odd Objects laying around
and picking them up at random moments in the workout who knows. For you
Bodyweight Practitioners, you can do things just about anywhere and have just
as much fun without ever spending a freaking dime. Here’s an example if you’re
up to the task….
Do a kettlebell snatch for a minute or two
5-10 reps of Bridging Gymnastics
Lunge to the furthest odd object you have and lift it
100 Squats
50 Push-ups
50 Tire Swings with a Thor and/or Sledgehammer
Do a couple rounds and finish off with some stretching
Now that workout might seem a bit advanced but it’s very
random and it’s unique. Pick exercises and combine them into what works for you
or try something different and see how it turns out while understanding how
your body reacts.
The best
thing you can do for yourself is go outside the norm. Make things work for you
that others can’t fathom of doing, not to prove anything towards them but to
prove to yourself that you can step outside the box and have fun with what you
have. Be resourceful, learn to see things differently. If anyone knows how to
make oddball exercises work its Steve Justa, he just finds things and works
with them in unique ways like lifting up a tire off a 2000 pound truck or
holding an isometric for an hour straight hell he’ll even circle around a 500
pound stone or barrel just for kicks. The more you learn to do things outside
the box, you begin to understand the limitless potential to become super strong
and crazy fit.

It Ain’t Easy Being Green
All of us have different traits, physical structure and certain intellectual abilities, however, being different scares people period. Many people want others to see the world the same way they see and force you to not challenge their opinions and philosophies. Fitness is a lot like that too, if you challenge the system, they’ll ridicule you and make you feel guilty that whatever you’re doing is wrong and their system is the end all be all.
