Princes Of The Universe And Fun Times In Montana

In my opinion, when it comes to an underrated Hard Rock song but also at their heaviest, Princes Of The Universe by Queen is right up there. A true theme song to an ok Franchise (aside from the first film and TV Show) of Highlander which is in a reboot right now with former Superman actor Henry Cavil playing the lead as Connor MacLeod. One of my favorite action filled stories that blends sword fighting, romance, piece periods and the pros & cons to immortality.

Guess I got caught up in a bit of nostalgia (or did I?). Anyway, onto the article at hand. Throughout this week, was a great time in the state of Montana where the wife and I celebrated a late anniversary trip at a fun little spot next to the Cark Fork River. A cabin a with an awesome view, a porch swing where we had little moments of just being together. I love that shit.

A few days soaking up pools, eating good food and even went on a fun hike that took a good couple hours. Some of my training was more on the lines of Isometrics than most. One morning I did a 500 Rep Circuit with the Dopa Band and then filmed a demo of Dopa Band Exercises in the morning sun. Being able to train anywhere gives off the perks of doing what's possible with what you have, even if its just yourself.

Isometrics is by far in my opinion, the ultimate method for training anywhere and everywhere. Don't have to move but you can contract muscles hard and still get something out of it. With my trusted WorldFit Iso Trainer and my Isometric Loop, got in some solid workouts hitting every muscle possible in a short amount of time. The morning I did the circuit and the filming was the same one where we did the hike soon after. Pretty fun climb to get to a waterfall area and just let the beauty of nature sink in. After we got back, had a little bit of food and went to the pools. Swimming and just enjoying the scenery. Surrounded by the awesome mountain area and seeing some wild life like little birds, a rabbit and some ospreys.

No matter where you are, you can always have a fun time and be able to train, even if its for a few minutes and just kick back in the meantime or do a micro workout here and there. Even threw in some O2 Training working the number 2mm cap doing 30 reps within about 6 minutes. Helps keep up the conditioning especially for a hike. You live for moments like these and enjoy the company of the person you love.

Have a blast with the life you have, don't always get caught up in the bullshit of the world, it's always going to have moments. Treasure the moments that matter with the people that are important to you. Don't waste it on haters and easily triggered individuals that have no productive life and only live in a screwed up bubble of hatred, jealousy and are disturbingly obsessed. No time or energy for that crap.

Be amazingly awesome and have a great Friday everyone. Wish you much success and may the force be with you.

The Eagle & The Hawk

A story I wanted to share with you today is one I forgot to mention around my birthday. Although it was brief, it was one of the coolest displays of nature I've witnessed in a very long time. While floating on the river and getting a farmer's tan (still have it in my arms, torso & my legs from the knee down LOL); me, the wife, her brother, his daughter were having a blast and I believe it was my other half that pointed out something perched up in a tree behind us. It was a bald Eagle.

Just seeing the site of one that was maybe 50-60 yards from us was insane let alone what was about to unfold. As this majestic bird just casually sits and take in the summer air, a hawk starts roaming around on the other side of the river that was the side of a mountain. The Eagle sees it and starts flapping its wings and starts flying above our heads. We didn't know whether the hawk was seen around a nest or it just flew around looking for prey but what began as two predators circling the river turned into something glorious that had to be seen to be believed.

The two powerhouses started circling each other and the Eagle would come back onto the tree it sat before or go towards a tree on the mountain side but then the Hawk stopped at a place the Eagle didn't like and they started going at it. The Eagle flew into the spot where the Hawk was at and put up one epic fight. They went at it for what seemed like an eternity but it only lasted maybe a couple minutes. You can hear the screeches from both birds in that spot and the Eagle chased the Hawk out. It was fucking bad ass and the Hawk leaves the spot just flying off into the distance while the Eagle was victorious and circled around the area in a glorious flight of triumph.

If there was ever an unexpected birthday present, it was this. Being with family, floating the river, eating and drinking & getting to see two great Birds Of Prey fight a battle that ended with the American Bald Eagle winning. I don't know how much more American you can get than that.

This was one of those moments that stand the test of time in your memory and witnessed by people you love and it's on your fucking birthday. What more could you ever want to happen or see? I feel honored to have witness such nature and having a blast that was full of laughter, music, pontoon boat, rafts, food, swimming and more. Cherish those times cause although I've seen Eagles roam here, I've never witnessed them battling until then. You don't get things like that in the big cities. I love living here and got to see that.

Hope you enjoyed the story and have an amazingly awesome day.

Birthday Weekend And Shenanigans At 41

Been quite a week but the weekend and day of my birthday was just the cherry on top of a bad ass sundae. This past weekend, the spitfire and I went camping for a couple nights out in the woods, she set up the tent and set up for food while I went out and chopped wood for the fire. Some pretty damn hard work but it was worth it and had a lot of fun. Lots of laughs, tunes, swapping stories and play our game of Burning Questions by the fire. Took dips in the creek and couldn't be happier.

On our last day, I decided to be a smart ass and went out about a quarter of a mile from camp to fetch firewood and found this spot with perfect sawed off pieces and gave them a whirl. I brought my massive Ruff Stuff Bag that can fill up on a ton of firewood (bag can hold up to 1000 lbs.) with me. Little did I realize that it's going to be one hell of a trip back carrying all that wood. Took out one log and put the pieces in the bag along with my ax, gloves and rubber mallet. I practically carried back about half my bodyweight in that fucking bag, it was heavy as hell. Girlie got worried since I hadn't been back yet so she went out and tried to look for me. Caught up with her and walked back to camp hauling a beast.

It was worth the hassle since it gave us plenty of wood for the night with some leftovers for future campers. Came home and did some cleaning up and unloading our camping gear to set up for the following day. Went river rafting/floating on my birthday up near where we got married with family and had a pontoon set up with a few tubes attached to soak in the river. Got pretty burnt but it was a still a blast. Squirt Guns, spotify, swimming and spending quality time with the people in my life.

Earlier that morning, I got in a couple workouts of Neck Mobility, Joint Loosening & Agility Work and then Isometrics doing several exercises in three positions each for 7-12 seconds. Being over 40 doesn't mean you're over the hill, you keep driving and learning new things along with keeping yourself healthy as best as possible. Some people don't celebrate birthdays which I get, I mean to them it's just another day, who gives a shit right? For me, I enjoy celebrating it cause there were times in my life where things could've gone south and wouldn't be sitting here talking to all you bad asses, so I try to enjoy the moments and have fun with it. Some years wasn't always easy but I'm still standing and doing what's possible.

I may be a little grayer, a little wiser and don't do things I did in my 20's and 30's, but I have learned to adapt, adjust and get stronger & better conditioned in the long run. Have kept weight off over the last year and a half or so going from nearly 270 to under 235 and building my strength in fun ways. I'm in no pain, don't have arthritis and just enjoying things the way I can. Health is more than just looking good (even though I'm no model or random fitness influencer by any stretch), it's about finding balance and doing what you can for yourself and getting the most out of what's possible so you can enjoy the coming years. Plan on losing a bit more weight but also keep testing myself what I'm capable of. Shit at one point this past week I did a 1000 Rep Animal Workout and did slams with a 20 lb slam ball for 5 minutes as a Finisher that made me feel like I was going to die but once it was over, it was one of the best feelings ever. Who the hell does that at 40?

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday and I want to wish you all a great week. If you're feeling down, do something that could perk you up, go for a walk, get a workout in, call a friend or loved one and just shoot the shit. Do what's possible to genuinely smile and laugh if you can. Be amazingly awesome.
