Blissful Hell Doing 1000 Reps With The Dopamineo Band

This morning, I felt strong, energetic and ready tackle a good workout. Took my bag down to the complex gym, hooked up my Dopa Band & Strap and went at it. Everything felt right and with the exercises I was doing, they were flowing to the point where even at 7 Rounds, I knew today I could do 20.

Why do I call it Blissful Hell? Simply put, even in a state where I can keep going, the workout still wasn't going to be an easy one. Why would it? Unless you've experienced it, it is a workout that challenges your sanity. After yesterday's 800 Rep Circuit of 5 Rounds, I was determined to get at least 10 with the Dopa Band but I just kept going and doubled it. For this workout, I felt invincible and nothing was going to stop me.

5 Exercises for 10 reps each as usual, just going even further. The only rest was marking off the circuit which is only a few seconds in comparison.

10 Chest Presses

10 Wave Pulls

10 Squats

10 Ski Jumps

10 Power Pushovers

In all....20 Rounds comes out to 200 Reps each for a grand total of 1000. Even when I was done, I felt like I could go maybe another 2-3 rounds but this was satisfying enough. One of these days, I might see how many rounds I can do in an hour, with a routine like this, I can probably hit close to 30-32 but I'm not going to make that assumption of myself until I've actually done it.

This is one of the reasons why the Dopa Band is such an amazing tool. It adds resistance to practically any movement you do, even a smidge can make a difference. It's effectiveness is beyond description and it helps you stay fit for life. Another big perk is that unlike other bands, this fucker doesn't snap as easily, quite frankly, it's CLOSE to impossible to snap this thing. Since September of 2023, I have not had to replace this thing and I've put it through hell, stretching as best as I can, hitting it on gravel, wet grass, sand, concrete, in the rain, hot and cold weather and it still hasn't had scratches or tears.

This band is addicting and I'd rather be addicted to training with this than to smoke, drink and party. Exercise has been my second language since 2005 and I can't find any reason to take a day off unless I'm in a full body cast or dead. I will find a way to train every single fucking day, not because of motivation but for the love and discipline of it. For me, without training, it's like not breathing. I can be laid up and in severe pain and I'll still do something even if it's isometrics. I do like pushing myself and it has bitten me in the ass a time or two but I don't give up, I adjust and do what's possible in the moment. Since about June of 2024, I haven't been in any pain, sore sure and a few scratches here and there but not pain and I feel grateful to do things in my 40's that will continue for as long as possible.

I'm not the strongest, the fastest, the biggest nor do I look like I should be on a magazine but I do what's possible for me and do things that keep me going no matter what. The band is just another tool that has given me new ways to love training. It's not the ultimate training tool, nor is it the end-all-be-all like anything else, it's just a tool, like your bodyweight, weights, machines or whatever. You choose what works best for you and get the biggest benefit out of it. I don't settle for one method, I practice many and combine them to form my own ideals to what I want to accomplish.

I do believe Dopamineo Bands should be a part of any program but I won't ever call you a loser or f@ggot or anything derogatory/negative because you choose not to do them. That's what Charlatans/Cowards do, they treat you like garbage when they don't do things their way and if you don't do what they say, you're nothing but a speck of dirt and someone who isn't worthy of a human being to them. Those type of people are unworthy of your time and have no business teaching others how to be fit since some of these guys look like they couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag for one and make ridiculous claims that makes you ask yourself "Is this guy off his meds or something?" The truth is, these numbnuts come and go. Keep being you and find ways to be a little better and evolve. Make good choices, kindness isn't a weakness but don't be a pushover either, we all have our limits.

Back To Back Deck Of Cards Dopa Band Workout For 1000 Reps

Yesterday was awesome, going to the park down the road and having a blast with the Dopamineo Band. Kids playing at a near by house and I'm just getting ready for a battle that was a test of will, conditioning and maintaining stamina.

Got my music set up, the strap to the tree, the band hooked in and ready for a workout that some have called me crazy for doing. My deck for the day was my Flash cards. Seeing the fastest superhero to give me inspiration and motivating me to keep going.

At certain points, your mind begins to wonder a bit but you pick yourself up and keep fighting. Didn't feel tired or exhausted but it was a doozer and those damn Propellers can be a bitch when you have to do 50 of them 4 times. The half way mark in and of itself is one full deck, that's more than enough for most but I knew I got this and just didn't stop.

Once you go through the deck, you reverse it to make it more maniacal (kind of like the Reverse Flash) and see what you're capable of doing. Not one time I wanted to quit but there were times I questioned my sanity cause not everybody does this and it's not a normal type of workout. It's building toughness, physical capabilities and pushing through with the fire coursing through your veins. It's not how fast you can get through it, that's just a piece; it's more about keeping a pace with as good of technique, explosiveness and durability as you can.

Being out in the fresh air, listening to tunes and doing what I love? From a fitness POV it doesn't get better than that. Feeling the grass beneath your bare feet, feeling the earth and making the most of developing your body in the crisp warm air. It's fucking paradise man. No one is there to hound you, being in a quiet neighborhood and you're by your onesy just having the time of your life.

After the workout, I walked around a bit, feeling high as a kite, relaxed and happy. It's a great feeling and knowing what this band has done for some of the greatest athletes in the world, it's an honor to be a part of the Dopamineo Community. It's not an easy workout that's for damn sure but it sure as hell is a lot of fun and helps me stay fit while being over 40. The energy, the focus, the sheer power I feel is off the chain.

So Nice, Did It Twice

Get your mind out of the gutter, what is wrong with you?.....

For real though, being in shape isn't just a necessity, it's part of maintaining a good quality of life that keeps you on your toes, keeps you young and brings you amazing benefits. With my recent stints with the Dopa Band, testing out exercises and doing my 500 Rep Deck Of Cards Training, thought I'd spice things up. Thought I'd take a page out of Karl Gotch.

His idea of decks of cards training to maintain extreme conditioning was to do a full deck twice in a row. Doing this consistently with Hindu Push-ups, Hindu Squats, Jumpers & Half Moon Push-ups, it was painfully obvious that this was one of the reasons why the man didn't know the word tired or fatigued on the mat. He was just a beast and can hold his own with practically anyone. Gave this idea a shot with the Band.

The other day, I tested myself with the following exercises for the workout...

Chest Flys

Wave Pulls

Uppercut To Squats

Ski Jumps

Propellers

I really wanted to test myself with this and see what I can do. Did the workout doing a full deck twice in a row in under 45 min. (43:55 to be exact). It wasn't so much the difficulty of the exercises, it was to keep going while maintaining good breath control and focus. This was a total of 1000 reps which isn't always easy to do. The idea wasn't to tire myself out, it was to keep a good level of cardio while keeping the joints safe and the muscles worked to be stable for muscular endurance, durability, flexibility and lasting strength.

That's the great thing about these bands, they don't strain the joints and can increase or decrease the level of resistance just by positioning how the band is stretched, the longer you stretch it, the harder it is. It's important to be at comfortable levels of resistance to not only work the muscles but not have it be so loose either that it doesn't do anything. Which is why I enjoy it so much.

I love maintaining my conditioning that it keeps things intact and don't need to go as hardcore but have the ability to keep going. The 500 Rep workouts give a variety of exercises to do so there's always something to do. At times I'll do Chest & Back stuff for the upper body, other times do the arms, for the legs I like to do squats and jumps so those can vary with the uppercut to squat combo and ski jumps to Hindu Squats and Jumpers where unlike swinging the arms, you're pulling the band slightly to smooth out the swing which takes a bit of focus and balance to be in control of the speed and rhythm.

Full body workouts in a short amount of time is key. I'm not trying to keep up with these wrestlers who use them, I can't and there's no way I can maintain that level of intensity at 40 and not be injured. Got to go at your own pace and focus on what benefits you. Conditioning may be your greatest asset whether you're an athlete or not but it's important to keep your joints healthy as well in order to keep things flowing with the body. So nice, it's fun to do it twice.

Hitting 1000 Even Faster In Step Ups

Yesterday, I attempted to do 1000 Step Ups again just to see where it went. Recently for Step Up Workouts, I would go for 30 min or more non stop. Never counted how many total, just set my timer and went at it doing 12-15 per leg repeatedly. I have tested myself to see how fast or consistent I can do a certain amount of reps per minute, my fastest is 30-33 within a minute, at a decent clip for pacing it's around 24 per minute, so for a 30 minute workout that means I'm ranging around 650-720 reps.

If you hear someone say Step Ups are a lazy man's form of leg training, they're talking out of their ass and have no clue how tough that exercise can be, he's feeding you bullshit for something else in order to make a buck. Last time I did a thousand was about a couple years ago or so and managed to complete 1000 reps in 50 minutes. That to me was beyond crazy and I didn't think I would go any lower than that. This was using a deck of cards and just going with the numbers you would do for each suit. This time, I used a deck of cards again and something incredible happened, I went even faster.

Now when I did the amount in 50 minutes, I was using a 14 inch step stool which was relatively difficult and I was feeling it in my hips, lower back and knees. Since then I changed it to a 12 1/2 inch stool which is only an inch and a half difference so nothing huge in terms of a matter of speed and consistency. This height is perfect for me when it comes to consistency and keeping pace without feeling discomfort in my hips and knees along with the low back. This time, I not only went faster, I shaved off a ton of minutes. I finished 1000 reps in 41:23, nearly 8 min and 40 seconds were sliced off. That was fucking incredible and it's an awesome feeling.

There were times where I was practically sprinting and other times keeping a solid pace. Around 3/4 of the way I wanted to quit and just say fuck it and call it a day but I felt something encouraging me to keep going and telling me I got this. For some reason, I kept hearing Bud Jeffries in my head and he wouldn't have let me stop. I know that sounds New Agey and full of shit when it comes to the paranormal stuff but it was weird that I felt his presence and just felt like I couldn't let him down, so I kept going. I don't know maybe it was the endorphin high, the heavy breathing, the mental state I was in or whatever but it was surreal and I couldn't stop to let it sink in, I had to fight a bit but I made it and I did it.

Doing that many reps in that span of time was on another level of fierce will and determination along with mental toughness and the ability to push through even when it got hard. I have no fucking clue where that puts me in the realm of fitness nor do I really care, I just wanted to see if I can do it again and god damnit I did and it was absolutely glorious. You have no idea how it feels to do that many until you've done it yourself. You can talk shit all you want and contradict what the idea is but that means you couldn't possibly fathom the mentality and the physicality to push that hard with such a simple exercise. I don't know if I'll do it again any time soon or even go past 1000 for that matter but I can say I did it and I was cruising through that shit with the spirit of a dear friend encouraging me and the will to make it happen even when I was fighting myself.

When you take on a challenge, you may completely know what the outcome is or where that challenge will lead you. A challenge is more than just attempting something physical, it's a challenge to your mind, the heart you have and the fire that burns within in order to accomplish that challenge no matter what it is, so big you can see it through space or so damn tiny it's barely microscopic. There's a time and a place where you push yourself to limits that most people would fear for their life. It doesn't have to be all the time, you're not setting world records in your workouts, but it is important to have that curiosity and see what you are capable of. If it's with a friend or a workout partner that's great but also when you're by yourself and there's no one to help you, you have to dig deep into the very depths of your soul and there's no one to blame if you fail.

1000 reps in anything whether it be push-ups, squats, pull-ups, step-ups or moving weight over a period of time or in one workout is a feat for anybody. If you do it consistently, you're in far better shape than the highest majority of the population. No matter what your challenges are, face them and find out what you can do. You may fail quite a bit but sometimes those challenges can make you succeed and you're putting in the fight to succeed. Don't be afraid to fail yet make your successes as pieces of a puzzle that is your journey. There's always a piece that fits, question is, how many pieces does it take for you to get to the big picture?

Kick ass everyone and I wish you all the successes you make, if you fail, pick yourself back up and keep fighting whether it's right there or at another time. Keep being amazingly awesome.
